Toots received his plaques for the Down Beat Critics and Readers Poll for
2007. He likes to thank all critics and readers and Downbeat for his
election.
On January 31 2008
Toots Thielemans was honoured in Vorst-Forest (part of
Brussels) by naming a new (to be constructed) street after him.
After the official inauguration in the Hall of Honor of the Townhall there
was a "people party" in the canteen of the local footballclub "Union".
The Crowne Plaza Hotel
On November 22 2007 the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Antwerp opened his renewed bar and restaurant. Toots, who stays often in his "personal suite" in this hotel was honored by the fact that he was used as a source of inspiration for the decoration and the menu.
